Dr. Darryl Millis is happy to be on the Veterinary Care and Specialty Group surgery team! He is board certified in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, of which he is a founding charter member. Dr. Millis has authored over 70 publications, 100 textbook chapters, and 110 abstracts/proceedings. Dr. Millis is the author of the Dog Owner’s Guide to Hip Dysplasia and the Dog Owner’s Guide to Arthritis, and a co-editor of the Essential Facts of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine in Companion Animals, Textbook of Small Animal Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and Essential Facts of Physiotherapy in Dogs and Cats, and has received the prestigious AVMA Career Achievement Award in Canine Research and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Iams Paatsama Award for Orthopedic Surgery. In addition, he is the founder of MyLameDog.com, a resource for dog owners, and MyLameDogsVet.com, a resource for veterinarians, regarding common orthopedic conditions. He was a professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine for over 30 years, where he held the prestigious Acree Endowed Chair in Small Animal Medicine and directed the CARES Center for Veterinary Sports Medicine. He and his wife Linda enjoy traveling and spending time with their two sons and their families, and their dogs, Bourbon (a chocolate lab) and Sydney (a miniature Australian Shepherd).
