Every day, pets in our community face life-threatening emergencies that require blood transfusions. From trauma and surgery to severe illness, access to safe, high-quality blood products can make all the difference in saving a pet’s life.
VCSG is proud to operate the only veterinary blood bank in the area, providing life-saving blood products for our patients and local veterinary hospitals. However, we urgently need more donors to keep up with demand. By enrolling your pet in our volunteer-based blood donor program, you can make a direct impact on the lives of pets in need.

Requirements for Donation
To qualify as a donor, pets must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 1 and 8 years old
- Dogs must weigh at least 50 pounds
- Cats must weigh at least 10 pounds
- Be friendly, calm, and easy to work with
- Be in good health and on parasite preventatives (heartworm, flea, and tick)
- Commit to one year of donations
* Pets who have received previous blood transfusions are not eligible.
