Dr. Alexandra Gareau earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. She then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University, followed by a two-year fellowship in canine bone marrow transplantation and a medical oncology residency at North Carolina State University. After achieving board certification in medical oncology, Dr. Gareau remained at NCSU as a clinical instructor, where she contributed to the clinical teaching of veterinary students, interns and residents.
Dr. Gareau’s professional interests include hematologic malignancies and bone marrow transplantation – a curative option for dogs with diseases such as lymphoma and leukemia. She is passionate about combining compassionate care with innovation to help improve both quality and length of life for her patients.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Gareau enjoys spending time outdoors, especially paddleboarding with her Sheltie, Louka, and Chocolate Lab, Bailey. She also loves exploring the scenic trails and mountains around Chattanooga and discovering new places with her family.
