Learn More About

Dr. Kayla Bonadie completed an undergraduate degree in Biology with an emphasis on Conservation and Environmental Studies at the University of North Georgia. She went on to attend North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she focused on emergency and critical care across a wide range of species, including exotic pets and zoological animals.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Bonadie became a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association and completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois. She then pursued additional specialized training in exotic and zoological animal medicine at Nautilus Avian and Exotics Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Bonadie joined VCSG to be closer to friends and family while continuing to provide high-quality medical care to exotic and non-traditional species.
Their professional interests include advancing medical treatment options and improving the welfare of exotic and zoological animals, particularly fish and other aquatic species. They have also participated in research focused on improving the understanding and treatment of medical conditions affecting these animals.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Bonadie enjoys building and racing cars, reading, and spending time outdoors with their dogs. Their animal family includes three Huskies—Aristo, Efini, and Kona—a bearded dragon named Felix, and a 75-gallon multispecies freshwater aquarium. Their favorite fish is Camaro the catfish (don’t tell the other fish)!
